Kick-Start a Healthy Lifestyle

No matter who you are, what you do, or what your goals are, adopting a healthy lifestyle can only benefit you. A solid health base is the ideal starting point for any endeavor. You will look better, feel better, and have more energy. The optimal time to initiate a healthy lifestyle was yesterday; the second-best time is currently. If you are ready to adopt a healthier lifestyle, these nine suggestions are an excellent place to start.

1. Start Small

You do not always have to make a quick start (not that there is anything wrong with that). Focus on small, simple steps that you can use to build momentum if you are just beginning to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Numerous marathons began with a stroll around the neighborhood.

2. Respect Your Individual Preference

Why make the commitment to a healthy lifestyle more difficult by fighting yourself? Honor your preferences. Increase your intake of the healthy foods you already enjoy. Increase your participation in the physical activity you already enjoy.

3. Dress for Success

I\\\’m not suggesting that you must go out and buy a brand-new gym outfit, but hey, if that will motivate you, go for it! This means that if you have an activity planned for the day, you should dress appropriately in advance. If your running shoes are already on, you are much less likely to skip your run.

Find an Exercise Partner

Finding an exercise partner is a great way to break up the monotony of a workout routine and add accountability at the same time. You will miss your routine less frequently, and you will enjoy it more. It\\\’s a win-win situation.

5. 80/15/5

This simple ratio will help you eat more healthfully. It is not intended as a panacea, but it is a useful general guide. 80 percent of your diet consists of healthy foods you already enjoy, 15 percent of your diet consists of healthy foods you do not enjoy, and 5 percent of your diet consists of whatever you desire. You can adjust the numbers slightly to your liking.

6. Begin Each Day with a Large Glass of Water

Yes, before your morning coffee. This is an excellent way to start the day off right. You will be well on your way to fulfilling your daily needs. However, you shouldn\\\’t stop drinking water in the morning; most of us should drink much more water throughout the day.

Learn How to Cook

Cooking makes eating healthfully on a budget much simpler. You need not even be exceptional at it. Just gain enough knowledge to cook more meals than you order. Begin your YouTube education by locating a video recipe for one of your favorite dishes.

Reward Yourself Without Sabotaging Yourself

Reward yourself on a regular basis. Some people may find this to be weak, but it is human nature to seek a reward. The key is to avoid sabotaging your own progress. A day off from your normal routine is a reward. A few weeks off constitutes sabotage. A slice of cake serves as a reward. A full cake constitutes sabotage.

9. Do Not Allow Setbacks to Lead to Failure

You will encounter obstacles on the path to a healthy lifestyle. Don\\\’t let that frighten you, however. A setback is an excellent way to discover what does not work. Your success will be determined by how well you recover from inevitable setbacks.

 Think of Three Healthy Foods You Like – Find more ways to incorporate these foods into your daily diet.    Add More Activity to Your Day – What is a simple, non-exercise way to add more activity to your day. These are things like parking further away when shopping or walking for certain short errands.  Find an Exercise/Accountability Partner – Who is the perfect exercise or accountability partner in your life. Reach out to them to see if they are interested in joining forces.
